Lansing Police said a 4-year-old boy is recovering with a broken leg after being hit by a car.

Officers said it happened Tuesday around 8:00 p.m. on the 400 block of North Hayford Avenue, not far from the Lansing Parks and Recreation department.

Police said the child ran into the road and was hit.

Officers have not said if the driver was speeding or not, but people who live there said cars often fly through this neighborhood. They hope the city will install stop signs or speed bumps.

“We do not need to lose a toddler, or a mother, or a family member to know that safety have to always come first,” said Jean Pierre Nshimyimana.

The 44-year-old driver was arrested and released. Alcohol may have been involved in this accident, but at this point, police said no charges have been filed.
