About 20 pounds of marijuana seized from Owosso dispensary

OWOSSO, MI (WLNS) – The Mid-Michigan Area Group Narcotics Enforcement Team has seized about 20 pounds of processed marijuana from an Owosso dispensary.

It happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of E. Corunna Ave. at the Owosso Relief Center.

Detectives obtained a search warrant after a five month investigation into the dispensary over the Michigan Medical Marijuana Act (MMMA).

During the investigation, detectives found 60 packages of edible candy/foods containing THC/marijuana, 20 pounds of processed marijuana, THC/marijuana oils and wax and about 300 THC/marijuana vapor/e-cigarette cartridges. In addition, officials found digital scales and sales packing materials, a stun gun and about $2,500 in cash.

Under the law, the MMMA states a caregiver is allowed five patients as well as themselves.

In Michigan, dispensaries are prohibited from dispensing THC/marijuana edibles.

No one has been arrested at this time. The Shiawassee County Prosecutor’s office will review the case before and possible criminal charges are filed.
