The problem of child abuse was discussed Friday in lansing. The discussion was a part of a task force set-up by the governor.
The group is driven to improve the handling of child abuse and neglect cases. Experts on the task force include doctors, lawers, and law enforcement.
The Govenor’s Child Abuse and Neglect Task Force met in Downtown Lansing to talk about addressing the issues of abuse. They’re coming up with ideas for policy changes and looking at the best ways to train professionals to spot the problem.
This is done by evaluating cases and looking at how they are investigated, and how cases are handled in the courts.
The task force also looked at how abuse effects people from urban areas, as well as the country.
The next meeting is being held in may to go over the changes met and to set new goals.
