Aquatic Center gets hit with storm

EAST LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – With the high heat index, many awaited to take a dip at East Lansing’s aquatic center, but the weather became quite a sight.

Doors open at 11, and around 11:15 the sky became dark, clouds, winds, and rain filled the atmosphere.

Pool officials told the public to take shelter in a car, or near the building.

The high winds and possible lightning caused the pool to close temporarily.

During that time, some swimmers huddled and waited for the warm sun to come back.

No it doesn’t bother me as long as it’s not lightning or tornado come through this is great, at least the weather has cooled down a little bit.”, Terry Cole a Haslett resident at the aquatic center said.

“There’s black clouds way over there and I think there’s white clouds down there. So I think there’s going to be a perfect sunny day again”, little Taylor Cole said.

The warm weather did come back, and the public was able to enter the waters before 1 pm.
