Detroit, Mich. – General Motors is issuing a recall on 358,000 vehicles from the 2013 model year due to defective windshield wiper components.
The recall affects 2013 models of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. According to GM, the wipers installed on those vehicles are built with a ball joint that can corrode and wear out, rendering the wipers inoperable.
According to a report filed with government regulators, the potential safety hazard was spotted by a GM manager in Canada last December. General Motors opened an investigation in March and issued the recall earlier this month.
GM says it will cover the cost of repair when it determines when it will be able to fix the problem.
Chevrolet Equinox owners can call 1-800-222-1020 and GMC Terrain can call 1-800-462-8782 for further information.
