LIVINGSTON CO., Mich (WLNS) – A good book can take a reader to different places, providing a distraction in the pages.
The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office and Usborne Books are teaming up to collect books to place in patrol cars.
The idea is to have books available for children in crisis. Should a situation arise where a child is in crisis, organizers say a deputy will be able to give the child a book to provide a distraction and provide them with something else to focus upon.
According to our media partners at WHMI, the drive is being held now through August 25.
Organizers hope to raise $5000 in books before during the two-week period ending Thursday. Usbourne Books will match up to 50 percent of the total books donated.
