Dozens of Lansing area women are getting ready to roll up their sleeves and take part in Habitat for Humanity’s annual Women Build.
Tuesday night was the kick off for the capital region’s two-week event where volunteers gather to learn more about the project.
This year, teams of 10 women will work together to replace a roof, windows and doors for a disabled veteran and his family.
The dates for this year’s Women Build are April 30th through May 5th and May 21st through May 25th.
Julie Durnham, the resource development director for Habitat for Humanity Capital Region, said it’s a week that many people look forward to participating in.
“People take the day off work and they come out they take time out of their day,” Durnham said. “Sometimes they are forgoing pay for that day, they are coming out and they are giving back to someone in their community that really needs it and we found that people who participate come back every year and look forward to this.”
For those wishing they would have signed up for the women’s build, don’t worry, you still have time.
