Coliform bacteria found in Jackson elementary school water

JACKSON, Mich (WLNS) – Students in a Jackson-area school will be drinking from water dispensers today after multiple tests of its drinking fountains confirmed the presence of potentially-harmful bacteria.

The water at East Jackson Elementary School tested positive for coliform bacteria beginning in mid-March and most recently confirmed on Wednesday.

Our media partners at the Jackson Citizen-Patriot report, even after weeks of investigation, officials working with the Jackson County Health Department and a plumbing contractor haven’t found a source of the problem.

This story is developing and we’ll have updates online and on 6 News.
