DETROIT (AP) – Temporary bridge supports are being installed at a Detroit freeway interchange after deteriorating concrete was found.
The Michigan Department of Transportation says the work starts Wednesday around the northbound and southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the I-94 interchange. Lane closures are planned.
A routine inspection found the problem. MDOT says the supports will stabilize the bridge, keeping it safe until further evaluation is done.
It is reported that MDOT says it spends $10 million a year on temporary bridge supports, emergency repairs and preventative maintenance.
