DNR to hold public meeting on Chronic Wasting Disease

DEWITT TOWNSHIP, MI. (WLNS) – Hunting season will soon be over and the Michigan Department of Natural Resources wants to talk to the public about how Chronic Wasting Disease is impacting the state and what role we play in keeping the disease from spreading.

The DNR will hold a meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at the Dewitt Township Valley Farms Community Center, not far from where a CWD positive deer was killed by a hunter back in November.

More than 4,000 wild deer were tested this hunting season and of those five were found to have the disease, which is fatal to deer and related species.
