CLINTON CO., Mich (WLNS) – “It looked like a slaughter house.”

That’s how some are describing the deadly scene in Clinton County where more than a dozen cows were hit by three cars just after 5:30 this morning.

This all happened on Grange Road north of Westphalia.

According to the Clinton County sheriff’s office the storms overnight spooked more than 40 cows which broke through a fence and got away from a farm in Ionia County.

Fourteen ended up on Grange Road.

Police say nine cows were hit by vehicles and killed this morning.

Five others needed to be humanely put down.

No people were seriously hurt.
