Last Friday a young woman was taken too soon. Her family remembers her life and her love as they prepare to say goodbye.
Two women were found murdered Friday, May 10. and the man accused of their murders has been arrested and charged, but the victim’s families want people to know their daughter was much more than just a victim.
“It’s a lot of stuff to do in a few days when you’re having a hard time even breathing or eating or sleeping,” said Roger Brock. Friday he heard the words no parent ever wants to hear.
“He said, there’s no easy way for me to say this, I have some bad news, last night two people were killed and one of them was your daughter,” Roger Brock said.
Roger and Michelle Brock’s daughter, 26-year-old Kaylee Ann Brock, was found murdered.
“I can’t get over the fact that I wasn’t there for her,” Roger Brock said, “I’ve always been there for Kaylee.”
And he’s here now sharing the light she brought to his family and to the world.
Roger Brock said, “If people knew Kaylee, they knew how much she loved everybody.”
They said she always had a smile and she was always optimistic.
“She could always see the positive part in any situation,” Michelle Brock said.
Now, her parents are trying to do the same. It’s hard at times because of social media.
“All I see is pictures of my smiling daughter or pictures of this monster,” Roger Brock said.
But Roger doesn’t want vengeance.
“Probably his parents are suffering from this as well,” said Roger Brock. “If they are the kind of people suffering from this, then I feel for them too.”
He’s asking people to focus on Kaylee and the other victim, 32-year-old Julie Ann Mooney.
“And this monster be put in a box and the box put away and nothing ever be spoken about him again,” Roger Brock said. “His image, his name, his life just be dismissed and my daughter and this other young lady’s lives be celebrated and remembered.”
Kaylee’s family created a GoFundMe to help pay for the cost to lay their daughter to rest. Her memorial service will be held Friday, May 17. at 2 p.m. at the 2|42 Community Church in Okemos.
Memorial services for the other victim, Julie Ann Mooney, is Thursday, May 16 at 11 p.m. It will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home in Williamston.
