Final: Michigan drops Michigan State

News

No miracles this year.

One year after the Michigan State Spartans won on a last-second play, MSU found itself once again attempting a valiant comeback in the 4th quarter.

A touchdown narrowed the score to 30-17, and a late drive put the Spartans in scoring position.

But MSU, on its third quarterback of the day, struggled to get the ball in the end zone, and time ran out on the Spartans.

They scored a touchdown with :01 left in the game, but it wasn’t enough to overcome what had been a 13 point deficit.

They went for 2, coughed it up, and Michigan’s Jabrill Peppers took it back all the way across the field to add 2 points to Michigan’s total.

Final score: Michigan 32, MSU 23.

MSU came out of the gate strong. Their first drive led to a touchdown. But the second TD didn’t come until it was almost too late to matter, and the third came when it was too late to matter.

Michigan, the #2 team in the nation, also scored on its first drive. Then they went on to score on the next four drives.

The scoring slowed in the second half, but MSU was almost 3 touchdowns behind for most of it, effectively putting the game out of reach.

The score was at least respectable. Many people feared a blowout and the odds-makers had Michigan as a 24 point favorite.
