Fire breaks out at a group home in Jackson

JACKSON, Mich. (WLNS) -  A fire broke out at a group home at Washington and Second in downtown Jackson.

It started around 10am in a second floor bedroom and spread to other rooms.

As of 11:30am, crews have gotten the fire under control.

The fire did cause substantial damage but everyone is safe.

The Jackson Fire Department told 6 News this was a group home for 8 adults with developmental disabilities. They're now homeless and management is looking to place them elsewhere.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
