Fire inspector says hookah coal burner to blame for The Landings fire

EAST LANSING, MI (WLNS) – An unintentional electrical fire displaced about 60 people on Monday, Feb. 29.

Since then, officials have been investigating.

Don Carter, fire inspector for the East Lansing Fire Department told 6 News the fire was due to a hookah coal burner on a deck.

Due to that electrical fire the entire building is closed until construction repairs are complete. Carter says repairs will take about three – five months.

The Red Cross has helped residents in the meantime.
