EAST LANSING, MI. (AP) – The College of Engineering at Michigan State University has received a $1.3 million endowment to support entrepreneurship and diversity.
The gift was established through an estate plan belonging to a Chicago couple who met in a calculus class at the school in the 1970s. The endowment establishes the Bob Nuber and Betty Shanahan Endowed Professorship and supports Empower Extraordinary, a $1.5 billion campaign launched by Michigan State University in October 2014.
Nuber and Shanahan graduated from the school in 1978. Both of them are members of the university’s College of Engineering Campaign Cabinet.Photo courtesy of the MSU College of Engineering.
