After years of discussions and planning the sale of the former Waverly Golf Course property has been completed.
The 120 acre former golf course and Michigan Avenue Park sold for $2.2 million and the profits of the sale will go to the Lansing Parks and Recreation Department.
Located at the corner of Saginaw Street and Waverly Road, golfers haven’t walked the fairways of the course since 2007 and it has been vacant since then.
“Today we finalized the sale of the old Waverly Golf Course property, which has been ongoing for quite some time,” said Mayor Andy Schor. “I’m happy that we were able to finalize this deal and raise $2.2 million for the City of Lansing Parks and Recreation Department.”
The property is being purchased by a Grand Rapids based developer.
Northern Capital Investments is proposing putting in a $100 million mixed use development on the property.
