Fourth annual Faster Horses Festival brings thousands of people to area

BROOKLYN, MI (WLNS) – It’s that time of the year for summer fun, meaning festivals are in full swing. Including Faster Horses.

Vehicles are pulling into the festival and people are saying it’s the party of the year.

Michigan resident Marina Visar said, “we came here last year and I mean we really like Florida Georgia Line which is why we came but they’re not here this year…but it was really fun.”

“It’s the party of the summer. See all the great acts. Eric Church. Jason Aldean. And, just hang out with my friends and have a good time,” said another Michigan resident Nate Moss.

The music has even brought people together over the years.

Michigan resident Kary Sessions said, “this is our chance to get all together and every year our of friends grows.”

“Yes, it does,” said friend Amy Gibbs.

“It grows and grows,” responded Sessions.

“From Ohio to Indiana to other people just out of Michigan, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing,” said Gibbs.

Because everyone is coming to one location, it’s providing a big boost to the local economy.

Michigan International Speedway Media Relations Manager Brad Kuhbander said, “this crowd is so much different from a NASCAR crowd where they may not pack everything up as a NASCAR crowd they’re going into town all the time to buy their supplies they need for the day.”

Meaning places like the Country Market in Brooklyn will be ringing in the sales over the weekend.

“Quite a bit busier. Pretty much double the normal business. We’ll have probably at least 7,000 per day . . . transactions,” said Country Market Store Manager Todd Gilbert.

So, as the campgrounds fill up, and music keeps playing it provides benefits for many people locally.
