Grand Ledge WWII Veteran receives new roof

News

Habitat for Humanity is teaming up with the company Owens Corning to install new roofs on the homes of military veterans nationwide just in time for Memorial Day.

Today in Grand Ledge workers will repair a roof for 93-year old Augie Sollid as part of the Owens Corning’s National Roof Deployment Project.

Sollid once served in World War II.

He even received a signed letter from former President Truman.

Officials say the effort is a way to show gratitude and honor the veterans who serve our country and the families who support them.
