Growing Food Without Soil Or Sunlight

Get ready to unleash your inner curiosity.

The 6th annual Michigan State University Science Festival is offering 250+ different hands-on activities, tours, and live demonstrations statewide this month.

This year’s theme is “To the Future and Back.”

One of the things visitors can do this weekend, is tour MSU’s Controlled Environment Lighting Laboratory.

Tours will run on Saturday from 11am-3pm on campus at the Plant and Soil Sciences Building, Room A154

It’s a vertical farming facility where plants are grown on vertically stacked shelves without sunlight or soil.

The tour will showcase all that goes into making a vertical farm including hydroponics and LED lights.

You can even taste test the leafy greens.

The Michigan State University Science Festival is going on now through April 22nd.
