Hardware stores prepare for last minute rush for snow storm equipment

(WLNS) – People have been heading to hardware stores since Tuesday, to prepare for the winter storm hitting Mid-Michigan.

Ace Hardware in Frandor did not stock up extra equipment for the storm, because there hasn’t been a lot of business this winter, with only a couple of storms hitting the Lansing area.

Assistant Manager Brian Hackett at Ace told 6 News they still had plenty of ice, shovels and a few snow blowers early on today, but people have been grabbing last minute items through the day today before the road conditions get worse.

“We had a lot of business yesterday actually preparing early on for this, knowing that it was coming today and there will be people throughout the day coming in for mainly salt, a few shovels, but mainly salt and hopefully a couple snow throwers,” Hackett said.

Hackett says the earlier people put salt down, the easier shoveling will be later on tonight and tomorrow morning.

For anyone who still needs to grab salt or shovels for the heavy snow, Hackett suggests getting to a hardware store sooner rather than later before everything is bought up.
