Medical groups urge caution during the holidays

Doctors, nurses and hospital officials joined forces today to urge people to scale back holiday gatherings to help keep Americans and over-burdened hospitals safe during this COVID-19 surge.

American Medical Association and the American Nurses Association are urging people to celebrate responsibly in an open letter to the public.

They emphasize keeping gatherings small, wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

Their advice echoes guidance from the CDC.
