Fresh on the heels of a Final Four season, Michigan State University Spartan junior forward Nick Ward will test the NBA draft.
This is the second time Ward will check out the NBA, having tested it last season.
“After talking things over with my parents and Coach Izzo and the staff at Michigan State, I’ve decided to take the next step in my career and enter my name for the NBA draft,” said Ward.
According to the new rules for college players, Ward can come back for his senior year even if he’s hired an agent and if he’s not drafted.
But Ward says he is not coming back for his senior season.
“Nick went through the draft process last year and gained some valuable information,” said head coach Tom Izzo. “I also knew Nick’s desire to begin his pro career following his junior season, and I’m fully supportive of his decision.”
Ward had an up-and-down season, breaking his hand in the Ohio State game and missing four weeks of the season.
Despite that, Ward was an All-Big Ten third team selection by the coaches and the media this season.
