Jonathan McPherson Sentenced in Connection with Road Rage Incident

Jonathan McPherson was found guilty by a jury of two counts of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, failure to stop at the scene of a personal injury accident, and malicious destruction of property. He was sentenced to 5-10 years in the Department of Corrections by a Jackson County Judge.

On February 1st, 2018, just before noon, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched for a report of a personal injury hit and run accident. An investigation revealed the defendant was tailgating the victim, cut the vehicle off, and then slammed on the brakes. The defendant approached the victim’s vehicle with a hammer, damaging the vehicle. The defendant entered his vehicle and drove towards the victim’s vehicle, while the victim was outside of her vehicle, resulting in the victim being struck.
