Jury finds Jackson Co. teen guilty of 2nd degree murder


JACKSON, MI (WLNS) – A Jury has found a Jackson County teen guilty of 2nd degree murder in his brother’s shooting death.

It happened on December 6, 2014.

Prosecutors say 17-year-old Riley Spitler shot his brother Patrick at their family’s home in the 5000 block of Big Rock Drive in Blackman Township.

Officials say Spitler, who was then 16 walked into his 21-year-old brother’s room with a gun, said “do you feel lucky?” and pulled the trigger, shooting his brother.

The jury also found Spitler guilty of possession with intent to deliver marijuana and two counts of felony firearm.

Spitler faces life behind bars for the 2nd degree murder charge.
