Lansing Police Investigating 6th Homicide of 2017

(UPDATE 4:18 P.M.) – Lansing Police have identified the man who was shot and killed on Saturday morning as 30 year-old  Westley Edward Cheeks.

Investigators continue to track down leads in this case. Police are asking if you have any information to contact them at  517-483-4600 or Detective Andy Hogan at 517-483-6861.

(UPDATE 1:53 P.M.) – Just before 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning, Lansing Police responded to a home in the 100 block of Shepard in regard to a shooting.

When police arrived, they found an unresponsive male with a gun shot wound.

After given medical attention, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim is a 30 year old Lansing male.

Lansing Police and the Michigan State Police are in the preliminary stages of this homicide investigation, but believe this was not a random shooting.

No arrests have been made at this time and Lansing Police ask anyone with information to contact the Lansing Police Department at 517-483-4600 or Detective Andy Hogan at 517-483-6861.

LANSING, MI – Michigan State Police confirm a man has died from his injuries, after an overnight shooting on Lansing’s East side.

According to Lansing Police officers found a man with a gun shot wound inside of a home in the 100 block of Shepard St. just before 2:45am.

6 News has learned that this was a targeted attack, with no immediate threat to the public.
