LANSING, Mich (WLNS) – Lansing Police may be joining the ranks of police agencies equipping officers with body cameras.

Monday Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero and Lansing Police Chief Mike Yankowski will detail plans to launch a pilot program to test several different models of the body-worn cameras.

The tests will determine the most effective technology to outfit the department and to give officers an opportunity to field-test the cameras.

Body cameras are already being used in a number of law enforcement agencies, including the Eaton County Sheriff’s Department.
