Lawmakers Want To Double Electricity From Renewable Energy Sources

(WLNS) – Democratic lawmakers in Lansing are urging the state to double the amount of electricity that comes from renewable energy sources.

Right now the state is required to meet 10 percent by the end of this year.

Top democrats on the state’s energy committee want that doubled to 20 percent by the 2022.

However, they don’t want customers seeing any new fees to get it done.

Governor Rick Snyder and lawmakers plan to update Michigan’s energy law later this year.
