LEGAL EDGE: To Chalk Tires or Not to Chalk Tires


A recent ruling by a federal court of appeals panel is expected to greatly reduce the number of parking tickets issued to motorist. 

The court ruled that it is a violation of the U.S. Constitution for police to place chalk marks on vehicle tires as a way to enforce parking laws. 

This case started in the City of Saginaw.
