Baseball team, VFW honor veterans at local cemetery

Local News

There are now a bunch of American flags inside a local cemetery in Lansing, thanks, in part, to the Waverly Junior Warriors baseball team.

The team has partnered with the VFW Post 701 to place flags at Deepdale Memorial Gardens on Old Lansing Road in time for Memorial Day.

They started at 9:00 a.m. today and plan to work all day until all the flags are placed.

“Because Memorial Day is coming up on May 27 and everything and we’re out here paying respect to all the veterans here and we’re placing a flag. But we’re here to say hey, thank you for your service is what it is,”  explained VFW Post 701 Commander Donald Caswell.

Organizers say that VFW Post 701 has been a long supporter of the baseball club and it’s a rewarding experience for everyone.
