UPDATE (5/5/2023 – 10:37 a.m.) — Police have given more information regarding the heavy police presence in Lansing Thursday night.

At around 11:09 p.m., Lansing police officers arrived at the 600 block of West Willow Street, after getting a report of a U-Haul truck driving recklessly.

While traveling to the scene, officers learned that the U-Haul hit a pedestrian. The U-Haul driving suspect then fled the area on foot.

The 19-year-old U-Haul driver was located by officers and arrested, with her arraignment being scheduled for 1:15 p.m. on Friday.

The Lansing Police Department confirmed that the pedestrian was taken to a local hospital and is in serious, but stable condition.


LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – A large police presence has been spotted near the intersection of W Willow and N Pine in Lansing.

6 News photojournalists on-scene saw several LPD vehicles, alongside a knocked-over bicycle and a stopped U-Haul pickup truck.

The U-Haul was taped off by police.
