Local cops take to the rooftops to support Special Olympics

Local News

Some Dunkin Donuts locations across the state were swarmed by police this morning.

Not for any trouble, but to raise money for a good cause.

It’s the annual  “Cop on a Rooftop” event.

Nine Dunkin’ Donuts locations took part, including the one near Frandor on Saginaw Street in Lansing.

They were there to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics – Michigan and to to help the many families participating this year.

“These funds are very valuable in helping our brothers, sisters, family members, neighbors who have intellectual disabilities find hope in competition and friendships and wellness and athletic opportunities through Special Olympics,” explained Major Darin Southworth of the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office.

Officers beat their goal today in Lansing, raising more than $650.
