This is a fish tale that two men in Clinton County will be telling for a long time.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office tells 6 News that the men were dragging a magnet through the Looking Glass River near Chandler Road south of Round Lake Road just after 1:00 p.m. today.

They attracted a metal object that they dragged to the surface and when they took a good look at it they quickly called the Sheriff’s Office.

The men had pulled up what appeared to be a military-type explosive device, similar to a rocket round for a shoulder-mounted launcher.

The deputies called the Michigan State Police Bomb Squad and they figured out that the device was a dud practice round but they still destroyed it.

Now the question is how that came to end up in the middle of the river.

That investigation is continuing.
