BATH TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WLNS) – One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting at the Dutch Hills trailer park in Bath Township.
Police have confirmed that the initial call was a domestic disturbance call that came in sometime before 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
Tara Hernandez said her mom lives doors from the scene and knows the family of the deceased.
She said a woman lived in the home with her son in his twenties. Hernandez said the man’s mother called her mom to tell her about the shooting.
“It’s just devastating she called my mom and told her and my mom called me as while I was out working and she was watching my children for me and it’s just devastating,” said Hernandez.
Some neighbors who declined to speak on camera say police have been at the home before.
Neighbors also said the man was well-known in the neighborhood.
“It’s a very big shock to our community and Lucas’s friends. He was, he would mow a lot of the neighbor’s yards and did winter removal, like shoveling and salting. He became really good friends with a lot of his neighbors,” said Hernandez.
Hernandez’s son, Jaiden, said it’s hard to believe the sight of more than a dozen officers right next door.
“I had no kids in school these past years and he was kinda the only friend I had,” he said. “When I heard the news when my grandma got off the phone, I was devastated. I thought I was having a bad dream.”
Clinton County Sheriff’s Office, Meridian Police, DeWitt Township Police and State Police vehicles were spotted at the crime scene.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available. The name of the trailer park has been corrected.
