A major construction project in Jackson will halt this weekend.

Fourth Street between Horton Road and Hickory Avenue is currently closed but will re-open today.

Starting this afternoon crews will stop working because the Civil War Muster is happening this weekend.

For the first time ever the event is taking place in Ella Sharp Park, rather than Cascades Park.

The “Jackson Civil War Muster” takes place over the course of two days.

On Saturday the Battle of Shiloh will be re-enacted.

Then on Sunday it’s the Battle of Gettysburg.

Festivities begin at 9:00 a.m. each day.

That section of Fourth Street is expected to be closed again on Monday for work to resume.

The $1 million project will be completed in two phases; the first one is expected to be done by November 9.
