Sparrow works to put shoes on the feet of the community

Local News

Sparrow has teamed-up with the non-profit group “Footprints of Michigan” to help our community with a 24-hour shoe drive.

Sparrow will be collecting new and gently used shoes in collection bins at all of its locations.

Officials say it’s part of their mission to improve the health of the people in their communities.

“That’s one of the least things people think of, and it’s the least thing that people can afford to buy, especially when being on the street, you have to provide yourself with food, shelter, before anything else, and it’s really necessary because that’s the foundation of your body, to have something good on your feet,” explained Geronimo Lema III, founder of Footprints of Michigan.

You can drop-off shoes at any Sparrow Health System location until midnight Tuesday night.

Officials remind people that the shoes should be new gently used.
