Students take over East Lansing following MSU win

Local News

Michigan State University basketball is rich with traditions and the fans support the winning program.

Sunday’s Spartan win over Duke, earning a trip to the Final Four in Minneapolis, was taken to extremes by some fans celebrating MSU’s big win.

The video above shows a large crowd of people gathered near the intersection of E. Grand River Ave. and Gunson St.

Two people were arrested when a crowd estimated by East Lansing Police to be between 600-800 people gathered in the 200 block of Cedar when the game ended.

A piece of furniture was set on fire and bottles were thrown in the middle of the road.

Police officers broke up the crowd and two 20-year-old men, one from Marshall and one from Ada, were arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

That same area has been the site of previous post-game bonfires and disturbances in past years.
