Lansing Bishop Earl Boyea will lead a prayer service for reparation at St. Mary Cathedral in Lansing later this morning.

He’s asking the public join him in prayer for the forgiveness of sins bishops committed against children across the country.

It’s an issue that’s been making headlines since a report in Pennsylvania showed the extent of the abuse.

In a statement earlier this week Bishop Boyea said he plans to do an “external review” verifying that the Diocese of Lansing handled any allegations of sexual abuse appropriately.

The diocese will also publish the names of clergy members who sexually abused children.

Also this week, the pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas church in East Lansing was placed on administrative leave from the parish.

A claim of sexual harassment was made by an adult co-worker last week that the Bishop says was believed to be credible.

Bishop Boyea will celebrate an 8:00 a.m. Mass at St Mary Cathedral, followed by a Holy Hour, in reparation especially for the sins of the bishops.

All are welcome to attend.
