Two Lansing Police cars hit in separate crashes

Local News

Two Lansing Police officers are recovering after the patrol vehicles they were driving were hit in separate crashes overnight.

The first happened near the I-496 and US-127 interchange.  The officer was on the scene of an accident when his vehicle was struck from behind by another car.  The officer and the driver of the car were both taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The second crash took place this morning on Martin Luther King Boulevard near Williams.  In that incident the police officer was inside the patrol car while working a crash scene.  The patrol car was hit from behind.  The officer was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries and the driver of the car that hit the patrol car was not injured.

A recently passed law in Michigan requires drivers to slow down and move over a lane when passing a parked police car or other emergency services vehicle.
