UPDATE: Body found along Jackson County road identified, hit-and-run investigated

UPDATE: The Blackman-Leoni township Police have identified the man who died in an apparent hit-and-run this morning.  Steven Georgopoulos, 62, of Blackman Township was found on North Elm Street just after 3 a.m.  He was dead at the scene.  This afternoon police impounded a 2006 Dodge Caravan that is considered to be involved in the incident., which police now believe happened at approximately 1:00 a.m. The owner and suspected driver of that vehicle is a 35-year-old Leoni Township woman. She has been questioned by detectives and that investigation is ongoing. This story continues to develop and will be updated.

UPDATE: Police tell 6 News that a person is being questioned in connection with a fatal hit-and-run just after 3 a.m. this morning that killed a 62-year-old man in Jackson County.  Investigators are also focused on finding, what they believe is, a 2006 white Dodge Grand Caravan that may be connected to the incident.  6 News has a crew in Jackson working this developing story and will be updating this story as more information becomes available.

ORIGINAL STORY: Investigators in Jackson County are saying a man’s body was found early this morning near the entrance to Hillcrest Memorial Park on North Elm Avenue.

Police have found what appear to be car parts near the scene, indicating the man may have been the victim of a hit-and-run.

Today police are looking for a white Dodge Grand Caravan that may have been involved in the incident.

The name of the victim will not be released until his family has been notified.

No information about the suspect has been released.
