UPDATE: Police identify Lansing man who died in motorcycle accident

UPDATE 2:20 p.m. – The Lansing Police have now released the name of the motorcyclist who died in a crash late Wednesday afternoon on Jolly Road.  A police spokesperson tells 6 News that Dylan Dombroski, 26, of Lansing died when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an oncoming SUV.

UPDATE: Police have not yet released the name of the motorcyclist who died as a result of a crash late yesterday afternoon in Lansing.

The crash happened on Jolly Road near the US-127 overpass when the motorcycle collided with an oncoming SUV.

Police say the 26-year-old cycle driver was heading east on Jolly when something apparently caused him to veer into oncoming traffic.

He struck a westbound SUV head-on.

The driver of the SUV was not injured.

The investigation is continuing and this story will be updated.

ORIGINAL STORY: A 26-year-old Lansing man is dead after police say his motorcycle crossed into oncoming traffic and was hit by an SUV.

It happened on Jolly Road near Oakbrook Drive just after 5 p.m.

Police tell 6 News the man was heading east on Jolly on his motorcycle when something happened, propelling him into westbound traffic.

He was hit by a gray SUV and killed. 

The accident also caused backups during the busy rush hour, as emergency crews were forced to close Jolly at Collins Road and Dunckel Road – two intersections that help people get onto U.S. 127.

Officials say the road could be closed until around 8:30 p.m. while they investigate.
