UPDATE: Police identify three dead after shooting in Jackson Co.

UPDATE (Monday 11:35 a.m.) –     6 News has confirmed the names of the people who died in what appears to be a double-murder suicide in Jackson County.

Michigan State Police tell 6 News that  Gregory Heath, 61,  shot and killed 44-year-old Curtis Sturgill, 44 and Katherine Sturgill, 60, before turning the gun on himself.

The shooting happened Saturday evening at a home on Moscow Road in Spring Arbor Township.

Troopers are still investigating but believe money and domestic issues were the primary motives.

They added there were no known police calls from the home before the shooting.

ORIGINAL STORY – Three people are dead after an apparent double murder and suicide in Jackson County last night.

It happened in Spring Arbor Township on Saturday just before 6 p.m.

Michigan State Police say they responded to a report of a shooting. They arrived at a home along the 5200 block of Moscow Road. That’s where they found two men dead. One was 44 years old and the other was 61. 

They also found a 60 year old woman who was still alive. Emergency crews took her to the hospital but doctors weren’t able to save her. 

Police say that all three lived at the house and that there are no suspects at large.
