UPDATE: Police identify victim in south side Lansing homicide

UPDATE (Thursday 10:15 a.m.) – The Lansing Police have identified the victim in a Wednesday afternoon shooting on the city’s south side.  Gregory Murray, 30, of Lansing was shot on the 3200 block of South Washington.  Police have confirmed that the shooting is not random.  Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lansing Police at 517-488-6846.

UPDATE: Police were first called to the scene after receiving a phone call just  before 12:30 p.m. Officers went to the back of an apartment building where they found a man who had been shot. According to the police the man died at the scene.  Schools in the area were locked down for a short time but students were not in danger.

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – There is a police presence near 3200 South Washington which is just north of Holmes road.

 Lansing Police are on the scene investing a shooting and homicide. It reportedly happened around noon.

The area is currently blocked off. We have a crew headed to the scene right now.
