UPDATE: Police investigate double homicide overnight in Lansing area

Local News

UPDATE: Two women are dead and a man is in custody and could be charged with their deaths.

Ingham County Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth, Eaton County Sheriff Tom Reich and Meridian Township Police Chief Ken Plaga had details on the two deaths and how other murders were likely avoided.

Wriggelsworth said it began with a domestic disturbance call in Eaton County at 2:40 this morning. Eaton County deputies were called to the 5300 block of Mall Drive West where a woman was calling for help.

She said a man, who she had a protection order against, was trying to get into her apartment. The woman claimed the man sent her a text message claiming he loved her and spared her but was “ridding demons of dear friends”.

The man left but Eaton County deputies found him during a traffic stop just before 3:30 a.m. at I-69 near Otto Road.  During his arrest he showed pictures on his phone of two dead women.

More questioning took Ingham County deputies to the 4400 block of Doncaster in Holt. There they found the body of a 26-year-old woman

At the same time Meridian Township police went to the 2700 block of East Grand River and found the body of a 32-year-old Williamston woman.

Investigators also were able to determine that the man had two other woman targeted. Those women were contacted and are safe.

“A true bad guy has been taken off the streets” – Sheriff Scott Wriggelsworth

According to Wriggelsworth the man had former relationships with the women.

No names have been released pending notification of family.  The suspect’s name will be released at his arraignment.
