ORIGINAL STORY: A two-year-old child is in critical condition after being shot in the face and arm.

Blackman Township police responded to a shooting shortly after noon in the 400 block of Barrett Avenue.

The Mother and 32-year old suspect were in a heated argument when she decided to take her son and leave.

She put her child into the car and tried to drive off.

Police say that’s when the man fired the shotgun through the car window, hitting the child.

Officers say the man drove off but was caught a short time later.

The suspect is in the Jackson County jail.
