When Lansing was in the grip of brutally cold weather in January two advocates for the homeless were handing out bus tokens to people in need at the CATA bus station.

What happened next resulted in arrests and claims of trespassing.

Now video obtained by 6 News shows Julia Miller and Martin Mashon, both 44,  being arrested at the downtown bus station on January 24.

The confrontation escalated after the pair questioned a police officer and security guard who were discussing removing a group of homeless people who were sitting in the station.

In the video you can see the two being asked by police officers to show identification.

They refused to leave ths station or show identification.

That led to the trespassing charges and Mashon’s resisting arrest charge.
