Man charged after shooting, standoff

LANSING - A Lansing man faces charges after police say he fired his gun into the floor of a two story house that's subdivided into two apartments.

Ellison David Cooper faces two felony weapons charges after the 4th of July shooting.

It happened around 3:15 a.m. on Wednesday at a home on Chicago Ave. between Saginaw and Oakland.

The residents of the lower apartment left and were not hurt.

Police surrounded the home and blocked off the street for several hours. Ellison was taken into custody peacefully around 8 a.m.

A judge set his bond at $5,000. The 41-year-old will be in court later this month for a preliminary hearing.
