MARION TWP., Mich (WLNS) – A bizarre accident has claimed the life of a Gregory man and injured his pregnant fiancee.
Livingston County Sheriff Bob Bezotte tells our media partners at WHMI that 26-year-old Gary Cox of Gregory was driving on Pingree Road, south of Jewell, just before 4:00 p.m. Wednesday.
High winds blew a dead tree onto Cox’s Ford SUV, trapping him inside.
A passenger in the SUV, 22-year-old Alicia Emmons of Gregory, was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and observation of the unborn child.
The accident investigation forced the temporary closing of Pingree Road between Coon Lake Road and Jewell Roads.
