Mayor Dobies releases statement of the future of marijuana in Jackson

After Jackson City Council failed to pass the medical and recreational marijuana ordinance yesterday, Mayor Derek Dobies is “adamant” that the city “respect the will of the voters” by passing policy that safely and responsibly allows these activities.

Mayor Dobies added that he was surprised with the ordinance proposing the City’s opt-out of recreational marijuana citing the 65% favorability of Proposition 1 by voters in Jackson.

The mayor further hopes to address the issue in the coming weeks, further stating “I intend to see this issue through.”
