Mental health advocates to rally at the Capitol

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) – Hundreds of advocates will rally for Mental Health Awareness Month with a walk through downtown Lansing.

The 12th annual Walk a Mile in My Shoes event starts at 12:30 Wednesday afternoon.

The walk and the rally at the Capitol afterwards is designed to increase awareness for mental health issues and reduce the stigma surrounding them.

Organizers say a good starting point is using respectful language, focusing on abilities and not limitations and allowing everyone to participate and feel included.
